We laugh, we laugh, but on a misunderstanding, this trade can make sense for these young Rockets still too soft in defense and who are sorely lacking in experience.
After adding Fred VanVleet, 2019 NBA champion with the Raptors, to their lineup, the Rockets are bringing another guy with Playoff experience who, as we remember, is capable of putting up his fifteen points every night while defending well. By plugging the right wires into the right outlets and making amends, Dillon Brooks can do great service. He can even be one of the locker room leaders and yell at those prepubescent teenagers who mess up. Of course, there are a lot of “ifs”, but that’s surely what prompted the Rockets to take the gamble with this player who has become persona non grata in the NBA. A big job awaits Ime Udoka to channel Dillon Brooks, in addition to Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr. or Jabari Smith.
