Launched in 2015 (and even long before on PS3 with a first game with an endless title), Rocket League has succeeded in a crazy bet: mixing the car game with that of football through an arcade cocktail, as accessible as it is difficult to master. For Tom Henderson, still in the small papers of the video game sector, 2K Games is reportedly preparing a serious rival. This would bear the name of Gravity Goal and would focus on the same principle, namely to score goals in matches in 1 versus 1, 2 versus 2 or 3 versus 3, with a notable difference: we would drive something other than cars and above all, we could attack our opponents directly.
Tron as inspiration
To stand out (a little), this enigmatic Gravity Goal would offer to pilot motorcycles directly inspired by the Tron films, well known to science fiction fans. The game would even offer to send “discs” to your opponents as a reference to the feature film: they would simply be weapons that would damage, slow down or stop opponents in their tracks. These objects look like luminescent hockey pucks, says Tom Henderson.
The insider does not stop there and adds concrete details: this title with a futuristic and luminous universe would only be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and would therefore ignore the traditional PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Il would also take the form of a free-to-play while a closed alpha would have already taken place, in 2021: the announcement of the project would be made this year by 2K Games.
