Roche Institute Foundation Announces Winners of V Call for Training Aid in Data Science for Personalized Precision Medicine

The Roche Institute Foundation has published the name of the winners of the V Call for training aid in the area of ​​Data Science in Personalized Precision Medicine to pursue the Master in Bioinformatics and Data Science in Personalized Precision Medicine and Health. Through this call, and coinciding with the inauguration of the Master’s Degree, the Roche Institute Foundation once once more ratifies its commitment to the training of professionals in areas that will be key in the medicine of the future.

Promote progress in the medicine of the future

David Blaquezgraduated in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Valladolid; Francisco José Villenagraduated in Biology from the University of Malaga; Jessica Louzamepredoctoral student at the National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) and Noelia Sánchez, who received her doctorate in Functional Biology and Genomics at the Institute of Functional Biology and Genomics, CSIC – USAL; They have been the winners of this edition. All of them have agreed to highlight the opportunity that this scholarship offers them for the development of their scientific career; in addition to providing the necessary knowledge to address the technical and scientific challenges posed by the implementation of this new way of doing medicine in the current health and biomedical research context.

The Master of Bioinformatics and Data Science in Personalized Precision Medicine and Health is organized jointly by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), the National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputation (BSC-CNS) and the Spanish Society of Biotechnology (SEBiot). The Roche Institute Foundation collaborate by providing these scholarships.

The Roche Institute Foundation grants the winners financial aid that covers 80% of the cost of the Master’s tuition, for each of the scholarships. As Dr. Al-Shahrour reports, “these scholarships are awarded to Master’s students, valuing academic and professional merits, also facilitating access to training for promising students with economic limitations.”
