National player Robin Gosens moves from the Italian Serie A to the Bundesliga and joins Union Berlin. For the Köpenicker it is the record transfer and probably the biggest transfer coup so far, for Gosens the first Bundesliga station.
Robin Gosens is moving from Inter Milan to Berlin 1. FC Union. As the Bundesliga soccer club confirmed on Tuesday, the 29-year-old international will play for coach Urs Fischer’s team with immediate effect and will wear jersey number six. On Tuesday, the defender completed the medical check and signed aloud “Bild” a contract until “at least 2027”.
According to media reports, the transfer fee is 15 million euros. This is Gosens Union’s record transfer. So far, the Irons have spent the most money for Josip Juranovic and Taiwo Awoniyi, each with around 8.5 million euros.

Gosens should take on a “supporting role”.
“With Robin, we were able to sign a player who stands for commitment, mentality and team spirit. We were looking for these qualities and believe that with Robin’s signing we have gained an important reinforcement for our game. For Gosens, the Champions League participant is the first Bundesliga station. Born in the Rhineland, he switched to Atalanta Bergamo from Heracles Almelo in the Netherlands in 2017. Nevertheless, Gosens brings the experience of 28 Champions League games to Berlin.
Hope for EM participation
At Union, the 16-time national player can hope for more playing time and thus possibly recommend himself for a place in the squad of national coach Hansi Flick for the home European Championship in 2024.
“I’ve always said that it’s my dream to play in Germany and the Bundesliga. Union’s last few years have been impressive, and you can see that abroad too. I have a lot of respect when I talk to the club’s officials and trust, so the decision wasn’t difficult for me. Now I’m looking forward to the new challenge and to an extraordinary and exciting season,” said the 29-year-old in the club’s announcement.
