There he is! Robin Gosens (29) has been in Berlin since Tuesday followingnoon. He landed at 11:51 a.m. with a private jet at BER. Then we went to the Institute for Sports Science at the Humboldt University in Berlin-Mitte to complete the medical check-up here.

The transfer might be officially announced in the followingnoon. The left-back will sign until at least 2027, moving from Inter Milan to Köpenick for around 15 million euros. That makes it the most expensive purchase in the club’s history.

The record has so far been shared by Josip Juranovic (in January 2023 from Celtic Glasgow) and Taiwo Awoniyi (in summer 2021 from Liverpool/now Nottingham) with a sum of around 8.5 million euros each.

Because Inter had already found a replacement for the left side in Carlos Augusto (24/Monza), the way to Berlin was clear for Gosens. The Irons were already close to the German-Dutchman in early summer, but Inter embarked.

Manager Oliver Ruhnert (51) at the beginning of July regarding Gosens: “He is a player who was in the Champions League final. For us, this is a personality that would certainly be very interesting, without a doubt.”

Gosens only switched from Atalanta Bergamo to Inter in early 2022. The fee was ultimately around 27 million euros. But in Milan he did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player. His record with the “Nerazzurri”: 58 competitive games, five goals, one assist. Total playing time: 2000 minutes.

At the Iron, Gosens is now going into a duel with Jerome Roussillon (30), who came from Wolfsburg in January 2023.

After signing the 16-time national player, the Berliners are still looking for a central defender. Recently there was a rumor regarding the Italian Leonardo Bonucci (36 / Juventus Turin).

The French newspaper “L’Equipe” also reported Union interest in ex-Bayern star and left-back Juan Bernat (26), who is currently playing for Paris St. Germain. At least the latter change rumor should now have settled.

Since there is no training on Tuesday, Gosens might practice with his new colleagues on Wednesday for the first time. The session at 10.30 a.m. is open to the public and takes place in the An der Alten Försterei stadium.
