In mid-1928, the actor’s mother, Mrs. Elsa Bolaños Cacho, did not know that she was pregnant and took a medication on medical advice that almost caused her to miscarry.
According to the blog of the official page of Chespirito, the medicine that Chespirito’s mother took contained quinine, a substance that is contraindicated during pregnancy, because it can cause congenital malformations and has been associated with fetal death.
It is for these reasons that Doña Elsa’s doctor told her that she should have an abortion, since her health was in danger. She even warned him that she might die.
