The traditional Swiss Ice Hockey Night took place on Friday evening. This evening during which all the individual distinctions are awarded took place in Solothurn. Players from French-speaking clubs have, unsurprisingly, been acclaimed. As a reminder, Genève-Servette won the National League, HC La Chaux-de-Fonds the Swiss League and HCV Martigny the third division.
The great man of this honorary evening is called Robert Mayer. The last rampart of Garnet was elected MVP of the play-offs. A deserved prize as the doorman was decisive in the conquest of the crowning of the Eagles. The international also left with the Jacques Plante trophy which crowns the best goalkeeper in the National League.
The title of MVP of the regular season, on the other hand, escaped the GSHC. If Linus Omark and Teemu Hartikainen were among the three finalists, Roman Cervenka was chosen. The Czech from Rapperswil, top scorer in the championship, thus retains his decoration acquired in 2021-2022.
Romands in the spotlight in the lower leagues
Inevitably, the award for the most popular player with fans went to the legend of HC Davos and the Swiss team Andres Ambühl. The Austrian defender of Kloten David Reinbacher, recently drafted by Montreal, succeeds the Valaisan Nathan Vouardoux in the classification of the best young person.
Goalkeeper Andrea Brändli won the Woman of the Year award while Finland’s Maija Otamo (Bomo Thun) edged out two ZSC Lions players in the PostFinance Women’s League MVP hierarchy.
The Romands also shone in the lower divisions. Toms Andersons (La Chaux-de-Fonds) and Romain Seydoux (HCV Martigny) have been named Swiss League and MyHockey League MVPs respectively.
