Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona’s Spanish striker, hinted that his retirement is “soon”, indicating that he may end his career with the Catalan club.

Lewandowski (34 years old) arrived in Barcelona in the summer of 2022 following 8 years with Bayern Munich, with whom he scored 344 goals and lifted the Champions League title with him.

He adapted quickly in Catalonia, scoring 33 goals in all competitions, including 23 in the Spanish League, to win the title of top scorer and contribute to Barcelona’s crowning of the La Liga title.

He said in an interview with the Polish press on the sidelines of the international window within the 2024 European Cup qualifiers, in response to his future plans, “My retirement? More close than far. It is very likely that I will end my career in Barcelona, where I and my family feel comfortable.”

Lewandowski’s name was associated with the move to Saudi Arabia, similar to the French Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, who joined the federation this summer following the arrival of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo to victory at the beginning of the year.

In response to a question regarding the Saudi interest, he answered: “Today I am happy in Barcelona and I feel that I am in a club that suits me, so I want to complete my contract here.”

Although he remains a top scorer, the Pole admitted that he scored less than usual given the new role that coach Xavi Hernandez asked of him.

He said in this regard: “I felt as if I scored 5 or 6 fewer goals because I had to do other things. My role was important not only on the field but off it. I had to adapt to my new role.”
