Robert Kennedy Jr. confirms that he is suspending the election campaign and supporting Trump

Kennedy Jr. said he no longer believes there is any realistic path to election victory, and that his name is now being removed from the ballots in ten key swing states.

– I now want to support President Trump, said the 70-year-old at the press conference. He justified the support with Trump’s views on “free speech, the war in Ukraine and the war against our children”.

Kennedy also said the move comes after talks with Donald Trump in recent weeks.

– Would have won

– In an honest system, I think I would have won the election, said Kennedy, who also emphasized that he is stopping the election campaign, but not withdrawing from it. He pointed out that his name will still be on the ballot in many states.

– My father and my uncle flourished in a system of open debates, fair primaries and with truly independent media, untainted by state propaganda and censorship. In a system of impartial courts and electoral boards, everything would be different, he added.

He also compared the Democratic Party to Putin’s Russia and made a series of outbursts against Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Kennedy also praised the volunteers who have supported him.

Contradictory

The AP news agency reported earlier on Friday that Kennedy jr. endorsed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in court documents filed in Pennsylvania.

Confusingly, Robert F. Kennedy’s campaign staff walked out while Kennedy himself was on stage in Phoenix denying that he would endorse Trump.

“Mr. Kennedy has not endorsed President Trump,” Stefanie Spear, spokeswoman for the Kennedy campaign, said in a statement to Washington Post.

– The documents were prepared by a lawyer and not reviewed by the campaign. They are being updated, she said.
