Venezuelan Robeilys Peinado managed to gather enough records on Monday to secure a place in the final of the disciplinedespite not reaching 4.55 meters.

The athlete from La Vega successfully cleared the 4.40 meters mark, which gave her the ticket to compete for medals in her third participation in the Olympic Games.
Peinado returns to an Olympic final after having reached this stage in Tokyo 2020, on an atypical day, in which Molly Caudery, one of the big favourites for the gold medal, failed to qualify.
After clearing 4.40 metres, Peinado attempted to reach 4.55 metres, but was unsuccessful on three occasions. Only three athletes in his qualifying group managed to clear this mark.
Peinado, on the verge of making history again
Peinado will be the only Latin American athlete in the pole vault final, which gives him the unique opportunity to obtain a medal for the countryin what was his third participation in the Olympic Games.
