‘Robbered on the pretext of making a drama:’ Khalilur Rahman Qamar’s case registered

Lahore Playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has registered a case of kidnapping and robbery, which the police’s Organized Crime Unit has started investigating, the police said on Sunday.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar filed an FIR on July 21 in Lahore’s Sundar police station for the robbery and kidnapping that took place against him on July 15. Apart from taking money from them, the persons kidnapped them and also copied the data from the phone.

According to DIG Organized Crime Unit Imran Kishor, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar did not file an FIR immediately on the basis of unknown reasons, but yesterday he filed an application in Sundar police station under the provisions of kidnapping and robbery. A case was registered.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar said in his statement that ‘the accused forcefully took the password of my phone from me and transferred my phone data to his phone and beat me badly.’

He further said that at the same time, one of the accused got up with his ATM card and asked for his password at gunpoint and withdrew two lakh 67 thousand rupees from the ATM machine and said that he was ordered to be killed and He also demanded one crore rupees from them.

‘I told them I didn’t have enough money, so seven men and a woman kidnapped me and brought me down from the flat where five more armed men were standing, who forced me into a car, blindfolded me and left me unknown. They went to the place.

‘After a while they dropped me at a deserted place where there were armed people around and I was made to sit on the side of the road and some other people came there in two cars and then they blindfolded me and took me to another unknown place.’

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar further said that the person who was driving the car also took his watch worth one lakh rupees, took him down from the car and tortured him mentally and physically.

‘They told me to recite the word and then fired at my foot which luckily I survived. Then they asked me for more money, so I said give me the mobile phone, I will ask a relative or friend to arrange it.

“When they gave me the mobile phone, I called my friend Hafeez that I want Rs 10 lakh. The friend called me after some time and told me that he did not have enough money.

‘Hearing this, they started beating me and then blindfolded me and took me in a car and after 15, 20 minutes they dropped me in a deserted place and escaped.’

Organized Crime Unit DIG Imran Kishor said that two women and eight men were among the kidnappers. Khalilur Rehman kidnapped Qamar blindfolded and took him to Nankana Sahib in three vehicles from Lahore.

“During this time, the accused continued to torture Khalilur Rehman Qamar and withdrew 267,000 rupees from him through an ATM.”

Imran Kishor said that after the incident, the accused left him at a deserted place in Nankana Sahib, the accused had also brought his car with them, which they left there with Khalilur Rehman Qamar, after which they returned to their home.

Imran Kishor said ‘We have arrested some people but we cannot tell their details now because the investigation is going on.’
