The earthworks of the roads that connect the municipal headquarters of Cangandala to the municipalities of Caribo, Culamagia and Bembo on routes of 60 and 85 kilometers, and the construction of two bridges, are among the actions planned for this year, in that region.
Included in the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), part of these projects are paralyzed, due to various factors, including non-compliance with contractual clauses and rain, and are expected to be completed during this year, aiming to create conditions for economic growth .
The works on the 60-kilometer section are estimated at 356 million and 739 thousand kwanzas, while those on the 85 are valued at 570 million and 286 thousand kwanzas, both started in 2021, with completions scheduled for the first half of 2022, but due to Due to interruptions, works will resume in the next few days.
The municipal administrator, Dilangue Baião, made it known that PIIM, in Cangandala, contemplated five projects, but only three were completed, namely the construction and equipping of four classrooms in the village of Cutete and three classes in the village of Cardoso Invicto and a 12-room school at the municipal headquarters.
He stated that basic sanitation actions and the acquisition of social assistance resources for the communities were also carried out. He highlighted that alongside the continuity of the PIIM, one of the provincial government’s challenges is the rehabilitation, this year, of the road that connects the Cangandala National Park, to underline the intention of stimulating tourism in the region, taking into account the growing interest of national and foreign tourists in visiting the sanctuary of the Giant Sable Antelope.
He highlighted that the expansion of electricity along National Road 140 is part of the actions of the administrative authorities of Cangandala, in order to create conditions for promoting industry and improving the quality of life of residents.
Another concern, according to the person responsible, is related to the problem of water, since residents are supplied by a conventional system, which works with 27 fountains, which also allowed the installation of 500 backyard taps and the making of 27 household connections. , figures that are expected to increase in the near future.
To this end, he made it known that all small water systems and cranks built in the municipality will be recovered, with a view to expanding the water network and, consequently, increasing distribution capacity, especially in villages that never benefited.
Along this path, he announced the completion, in the coming days, of the water system in the village of Quipacassa, budgeted at 27 million kwanzas, which will benefit, for the first time, 5 thousand inhabitants and the recovery of a system in the commune of Caribo, which was paralyzed four years ago.
The source highlighted that the Health and Education sectors also have projects for 2024, consisting of the rehabilitation of infrastructure, improvement of health care and primary health services, as well as the education system, along with the construction of houses for nurses and teachers.
With an area of 6,301 square kilometers, the municipality of Cangandala comprises the municipal headquarters and the municipalities of Caribo, Culamagia and Bembo, with an estimated population of 50,000 inhabitants.
