National Roads carried out maintenance and improvement tasks on the layout of the National Route 40 in different sections between Bariloche and El Bolsónwhich was in terrible conditions, which led to complaints from different political leaders, municipalities and the province of Río Negro.
The tasks were carried out by Road Traffic personnel from the Río Negro, La Pampa and Chubut districts and focused on the Bariloche ring road, the El Foyel area and other sectors.
According to the agency, the interventions in Circunvalación and El Foyel consist of the road milling, cleaning of work areas, patching with hot material, compaction with heavy equipment and deformation correction.
Roads indicated that although bad weather conditions are announced for next week, road personnel will carry out road milling and ridge removal tasks, logistics and equipment organization to continue with maintenance tasks when the weather improves.
According to the road agency, responsible for the route, «With these improvement tasks, the most affected sectors of National Route 40 are contained“and work is being done on the complete patching of the section from Bariloche to El Bolsón.”
He clarified that “there are still sectors that present deformations and slippage of the road as a result of the wear and tear of time, traffic and winter weather conditions where people should travel at a precautionary speed.”
Roads promised that during the coming months it will carry out “intensive maintenance work” on the route in the section between Bariloche and El Bolsón. He pointed out that the conservation of this trace is a “priority” for the Río Negro Road District, as well as for the province and the main municipalities.
The poor conditions of the road in the winter motivated heated claims from the mayor of El Bolsón, Bruno Pogliano, the elected of Bariloche, Walter Cortés, and Senator Alberto Weretilneck, who even promoted collective protection along with other organizations and the Rio State Prosecutor’s Office.
