Roads are being repaired and drinking water is being distributed in several communities in Chaco

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications has begun an intense week of work to improve the transitability of local roads in the departments of Presidente Hayes and Boquerón. In addition, the distribution of drinking water is being carried out in the most vulnerable communities of Chaco.

In this regard, key interventions were carried out in several indigenous communities throughout District No. 15 of Presidente Hayes. They carried out the cleaning and shaping of ditches in Yakye Axa, patching and widening of roads in Kelyenmagategma, and profiling in Xakmok Kasek. In total, 66.7 kilometers of roads were intervened, mobilizing 4,570 cubic meters of material.

In the department of Boquerón, the teams rehabilitated 123 kilometers in the municipalities of Filadelfia, Neuland and Mariscal Estigarribia, in the sections Teniente Montanía – Fortín Madrejón (60 km); route Neuland – Deep Well (20 km). Also in La Patria – Nueva Asunción (15 km) and La Patria – Infante Rivarola (28 km), for the benefit of producers, traders and local communities.

Providing water to vulnerable communities

Likewise, the Ministry of Public Works, in a parallel effort to improve living conditions in the region, undertook the mission of supplying drinking water to the communities of Pozo Colorado and Río Verde, in Presidente Hayes.

In Boquerón, aid was also extended to indigenous and Latino communities, including Yuasui, June 10, San Miguel, La Esquina, Evetoge, Laguna Negra, Primavera, Noe, Community 220 and Santa Teresita, among others.

This initiative not only alleviates water shortages in the area, but also directly contributes to the health and well-being of the most vulnerable populations in the Paraguayan Chaco.
