Road MAP or roadmap in the housing sector is considered capable of helping solve problems in the housing sector. Moreover, the new government’s goal of building 3 million houses a year requires a formula to make it happen.

REI DPP General Chair Joko Suranto said that problems in the housing sector are indeed complicated and do not receive adequate handling. The response to this issue mainly came from the elected president and vice president, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the program to build 3 million houses per year.

“We are currently waiting for the schedule to meet the president and vice president-elect to present the road map (roadmap) “We have prepared the housing and property economic sectors,” said Joko in Jakarta, yesterday.

Joko, who is part of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), revealed that his party is promoting solving the housing problem through the concept of the pertinomic paradigm. In this concept, there are four pillars that strengthen the housing sector, namely strengthening institutions or institutions that handle housing, focusing on policies and interests, optimizing housing budget allocations, and affirming the housing sector as a national strategic program (PSN).

Apart from that, he stated that his party continues to invite various parties to dialogue and open up discussion space regarding the housing sector for low-income people (MBR). In this way, the property sector will be at the forefront in achieving net zero emissions through a program of planting 1 million trees in all housing projects that are REI members.

“The roadmap that we have prepared will specifically explain how the housing sector must be handled, both in terms of financing schemes and partnership patterns that can be implemented. REI has also been one of the initiators in pushing for the formation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in the next cabinet,” he said. as CEO of Buana Kassiti Group.

Currently, REI has started collaborating with the University of Indonesia (UI) to conduct research on how much the property sector contributes to national economic growth.

According to Joko, the housing sector, which is part of the property sector, intensively creates jobs and is effectively the backbone of the economy that drives more than 180 other industries.

“With the property sector running smoothly, many other industries are also involved, ranging from the production of building materials, construction materials, furniture, crafts, to food traders around property development areas,” he said.

REI has stated its commitment to the 3 Million Homes per year Building Program repeatedly. This program is considered realistic and in line with efforts to overcome the increasing housing shortage. According to Joko, if this program is implemented consistently, the housing shortage in 2029 will be reduced and can be managed well.

He emphasized that solving the national housing shortage cannot be done using conventional methods as before. An extraordinary and out-of-the-box approach is needed, including setting large supply targets to meet people’s housing needs.

“And more importantly, the housing problem must be a top priority, not just a complement. Because this housing problem, if not handled seriously, might become a major threat to national development in the future, including the formation of Indonesian national character. Because national character begins from home,” stressed Joko.

In 2035, it is estimated that almost 66 percent of Indonesia’s population, around 304 million people, will live in urban areas. This situation requires appropriate handling, including providing housing in accordance with the constitutional mandate.

“The number of Indonesian people who do not own a home has reached around 20% and this figure has the potential to continue to increase. This means that Indonesia has entered a housing emergency phase, and this must be handled very seriously,” he stressed. (Z-10)
