MILANO – There were 3,039 deaths on Italian roads in 2023deceased as a result of car accidents. The data was released by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Matthew Salviniguest in Milan at the press conference to present the UN campaign on road safety.
“The data says that there has been a slight improvement in terms of the decrease in the number of deaths from Istat with a minus 4%,” Salvini emphasizes, who however highlights how the number is still high: “it is a town in the Milan area that leaves every year,” he observes. Of these 3,039, as Salvini specifies, 1,322 are motorists, but not only. In fact, the number of scooter accidents has increased by 400: from 2,900 to 3,300“and just pop into the Fatebenefratelli emergency room on Saturday morning to get an idea of the fact that it is another means of transport, therefore as such in the new highway code it will be identified with the obligation to have a helmet, license plate, insurance, indicators, brakes because they are no longer the wooden toys they used to be when they were children, but are vehicles that can go up to 40-50 km per hour so they cannot leave extra-urban roads, they cannot go the wrong way and they must be used as a means of transport like all the others”, he specifies.
