In an interview with TVA Nouvelles, Dany Boudreault, a resident of the area, recounted the time when he and his spouse got stuck in Rivière-Éternité.

“It was quite catastrophic. At the time of the events, when I went to join my wife who was arriving by motorbike from L’Anse-Saint-Jean, she called me and said, ”Honey, can you come and bring me some dry laundry? I am completely wet, as if I were in a swimming pool,” he mentioned.

“It was the flood. It was like a car wash. It didn’t make sense! I was scared at one point,” added Mr. Boudreault.

After picking up his wife, he went to the grocery store in the village of Rivière-Éternité, where he waited for the precipitation to calm down. However, it was at this time that the authorities closed the road, causing panic among motorists.

“There were a lot of people coming. The world was on the four turn signals, the world was parked on the side of the road. It was not pleasant. We mightn’t see anything, ”claims Dany Boudreault.

“We were prisoners. We might no longer move, as much towards L’Anse-Saint-Jean as towards Saint-Félix. We mightn’t do anything anymore, we were cut off from the world, ”he adds.
