Road Closure and Rehabilitation Project on Avenue Marius Meurée: Important Traffic Information in Marcinelle

2023-07-28 12:31:00

The SPW Infrastructures (the Walloon Region) will launch a rehabilitation project on Avenue Marius Meurée (N577) from July 31, 2023, in Marcinelle. This section of road, right between the Carolingian city center and the main arteries of Avenue Eugène Mascaux and Rue de l’Ange/Destrée, will have to be closed. Watch out for deviations!

The site will take place in a single phase to limit the duration of the site in time. But the road will therefore have to be completely closed, if all goes well until August 4 (5 days) – “subject to favorable weather conditions” specifies the SPW in a communication. You should know that the rain does not normally prevent the renovation of a coating, it is above all the temperature that plays a role.

Avenue Marius Meurée will therefore be closed, including the intersection on the side of the station and its traffic lights. Two deviations are recommended, writes the SPW:

From the “boulevard Tirou” roundregarding towards Marcinelle, it is recommended to take avenue de Philippeville (N5) towards Couillet, take rue Pierre Baily then rue de l’Ange to arrive at the bottom of the avenue Eugene Mascaux (N577). This diversion is valid in both directions. From rue de la Villette (behind Charleroi station), it is recommended to take avenue Paul Pastur (N53) towards Mont-sur-Marchienne, take rue Jules Bordet, then rue de la Belle Vue, then rue des Hiercheuses to arrive above avenue Eugène Mascaux (N577). This deviation is valid in both directions.

The budget for the work is estimated at €94,100 (VAT included).
