Road charges: Extension until 29/2 – Changes to the fine system – 2024-08-05 07:45:12

Kostis Hatzidakis announced a new system for submitting fines for overdue payments of traffic fees for 2024, at the same time announcing a two-month extension of their payment.

As it became known, the fines for those who have delayed the payment of traffic fees will be calculated on a staggered basis and not directly after the deadline.

Hatzidaki’s announcements on traffic taxes

“We decided to grant an extension for road taxes, for their payment, until February 29, 2024. For another two months. Then the Government will propose a new system, based on which there will not be an immediate, if the fees are not paid, 100% surcharge, but a gradual surcharge according to the delay of the car owner”, said the Minister of National Economy and Finance .

“No further extension will be granted”

A little earlier, by decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Haris Theoharis, the deadline for payment of Vehicle Traffic Fees was extended until February 29, 2024.

According to ifimerida, as clarified by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, the new date is final and no further extension will be given.

Referring to the new deadline, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Haris Theocharis emphasized that “we have decided to extend the timely payment of Vehicle Traffic Fees for 2024 in order for our fellow citizens and every Greek household that owns a vehicle, to plan to cover their obligations with a longer comfort”.
