Five people were injured in a road accident in the Annie Cordy tunnel in Brussels on Saturday followingnoon, Brussels firefighters said. All the victims were transported to the hospital, but none of them is in mortal danger.
The accident took place on Saturday followingnoon, in the direction of the Basilica. Two cars collided in unclear circumstances. Due to the accident, the Annie Cordy tunnel towards the Basilica had to be closed to traffic while the emergency services attended to it.
“In one of the cars was a family of four, and in the second, only a driver,” said Walter Derieuw, spokesman for the fire department. “At the request of the doctor, the roof of one of the cars was removed to evacuate the driver, to safeguard the head-neck-trunk axis. The five injured were transferred to hospital. Fortunately, everyone is in a satisfactory state.
