RKC Waalwijk has transferred sixteenth place in the Eredivisie to Excelsior. The Waalwijkers drew in their own stadium once morest SC Heerenveen (1-1) and now have one point more than the Rotterdammers. The club that finishes sixteenth must try to achieve a longer stay at the highest level through the play-offs at the end of the season.
At Heerenveen, Thom Haye, who made his international debut for Indonesia this week, played his two hundredth match in the Eredivisie. The Frisians had the upper hand before half time, but were unable to strike. RKC also had a chance through David Min, but the striker bumped into goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart.
After the break, Heerenveen expressed their dominance in a goal. Osame Sahraoui won the ball from Juriën Gaari in the 52nd minute and, following a good individual action, put the ball on the head of Pelle van Amersfoort: 0-1. For Van Amersfoort it is his ninth goal in the competition this season, a personal record.
Fortunately alongside
RKC fortunately came alongside in the 69th minute. A long shot from Kevin Felida was deflected, leaving Van der Hart without a chance (1-1).
