The Gulf Health Council clarifies the difference between e-cigarettes and regular cigarettes, and which one is more harmful

The Gulf Health Council, through its official accounts on social media, has corrected false information for a rumor that has gained great popularity, especially among the young age group in Gulf societies, namely: that electronic cigarettes are less harmful than regular cigarettes.

Correcting the rumor, the council said that in fact, electronic cigarettes are less harmful than regular cigarettes in terms of vehicles only, but they still contain carcinogenic substances and may cause lung infections and other damages, and are considered very harmful as well.

The Gulf Health Council added that the majority prefer electronic cigarettes because of their ease of use and their permanent availability in the hands of smokers, but most accept their smell, which encouraged them to consume them greatly. However, we should not lose sight of the fact that they are not devoid of harmful substances.

Regarding the use of electronic cigarettes as an effective way to quit smoking and that it is less harmful than regular cigarettes, the council said: In fact, this pattern of comparisons cannot be followed, and according to recent studies, those who use electronic cigarettes use regular cigarettes with them, and this affects more health.

The council demanded to follow the correct and sound steps, scientifically and medically, in the correct way to quit smoking, by reviewing the private clinics specialized in quitting smoking.
