Riyadh Labor Court Cases: Contract Violations and Salary Delays

Riyadh: The number of cases received in Saudi labor courts so far this year has crossed one lakh. Most of the complaints relate to violations of the contract between the employer and the workers, and delay in receiving salaries. The highest number of cases were registered in Riyadh province.

According to the figures released by the Ministry of Law, one hundred and two hundred cases have been registered in Saudi Arabia so far in 2023. The ministry stated that on an average, 426 labor cases are registered in the country every day.

Violations of contracts between employers and employees, wage revision and delay, delay in granting allowances, compensation, awards and service certificates increase the number of cases reaching the courts. Riyadh province has the highest number of complaints with 30530 cases.

Among the registered cases are 26677 in Makkah, 13111 in Eastern Province, 5723 in Azir, 5335 in Madinah and 4656 in Qasim. Various schemes and legal reforms are being implemented in the country to reduce and resolve labor grievances.
