Rivera contributes 2 home runs to Diamondbacks victory

Emmanuel Rivera hit two homers for the first time in his career, Zac Gallen pitched two-hit ball in seven innings, and the Arizona Diamondbacks routed the Colorado Rockies 6-0 on Saturday.

Gallen (8-2) struck out six and extended his scoreless streak to 14 innings in his last two starts. He gave up three hits in seven innings Monday once morest Pittsburgh.

The Rockies managed just two singles off Gallen, who walked them but retired 13 of his last 14 foes. In his last five starts, the pitcher is 4-0, and his ERA has improved from 3.56 to 2.94 since July 13.

Alek Thomas made a big catch on the final play of the game to preserve the shutout. He jumped and reached over the center-field wall to rob CJ Cron of what looked like a two-run homer.

Puerto Rican Rivera hit home runs of 408 feet in the first inning and 403 in the third once morest Dominican José Ureña (1-4). He hit 10 home runs this season.
