River trusts James – AS.com

Marcelo Gallardo’s return to El Millonario has brought with it a boom in the Argentine football transfer market. The River Plate coach, in what is his second spell at the helm of the club with the red stripe, has managed to strengthen the squad in search of an increase in competitiveness that will dispel footballing doubts.

Pezzella, the long-awaited arrival of Acuña and the signings of players such as Franco Carboni and Federico Gattoni (both also in Europe) have been some of the players who have increased River’s quota in order to try to fight for everything from now until the end of the season.

The latest to be mentioned and who could become a reality is James Rodríguez. The Colombian, who ended his contract with São Paulo after finishing the Copa América -being one of the most outstanding players of the tournament-, is without a team and waiting for an offer that convinces him to take the next step in his career at 32 years of age.

Despite rumours that he is in Europe, it seems that the Colombian international’s future could be in Argentina. A return that would also have the figure of Marcelo Gallardo as key to making it happen.

The journalist Gabriel Anello from Radio Mitre (who anticipated the return of the ‘Muñeco’ to River) has been in charge of launching the information about the rapprochement between River and James, a scenario in which the coach of the millionaire would have contacted directly with the Colombian captain so that he would be one of the star reinforcements of his team for what remains of the second semester in football in South America. “James is one step away… The phone call from Gallardo was fundamental. Gallardo called him by phone,” said the journalist.

Pending any eventuality, this would be James Rodriguez’s second stint in Argentine football. All after he trained at Banfield at the beginning of his career before making the big step to European football.
