Boston River beat River Plate 1-0 at Saroldi Park for the third date of the Intermediate Tournament. El Sastre was left with an important victory thanks to a goal from one of his figures, Alan Rodríguez.
The first half did not have much action on the goals. Matías Ocampo had an occasion in which he defined poorly from the small area just 2 minutes into the game. Then, Boston River had a couple of shots from Alexander Machado that went close, but did not carry too much danger.
Not much else happened in the first half until 40′, when a volley shot by “Chory” Castro from the edge of the area went very close to the crossbar, in the clearest shot by Darsenero in the match up to that moment.
One minute from halftime, Boston River was able to open the scoring. Corner kick for Sastre, Darsenero’s defense cleared with a header and Alan Rodríguez took the ball first and finished off with power, the shot deflected and went into Salvador Ichazo’s goal for the 1-0.
The second half did not have much to highlight, and River had a hard time creating the necessary danger to reach the tie.
Fifteen minutes from the end, River Plate was left with ten men due to the expulsion of Horacio Salaberry, who saw the second yellow card and further complicated the chances of getting something positive for the tenant.
The game closed with a victory for Boston River, which at the moment is the one who gives Nacional the most fight for the top spot in Series B of the Intermediate Tournament.
