Nearly 40 people were evacuated from their homes in Montreal on Saturday following possible signs of collapse were seen in three buildings on De Lorimier Avenue.
It was around 12:15 p.m. that the emergency services were called to intervene. As a preventive measure, the firefighters evacuated the three buildings, a total of 15 apartments.
“Between 30 and 40 people were evacuated and will be relocated by the Red Cross,” said Kevin Francoeur, prevention chief at the Montreal Fire Department.
According to a citizen met by TVA Nouvelles, and who refused to be identified for fear of reprisals, work in the building in the center of the three buildings would be at the origin of the risk of collapse.
