The prices of certain star food products of the summer season have literally soared, as explained by journalist David Boéri, present on the set of 19/20, Friday July 7. What products are affected?

As the holidays begin, the prices of some star summer food products have risen sharply. “This is indeed the case on our plates, especially with mozzarella, one of the essential products of the summer. According to the franceinfo basket, count, on average, 1.23 euros per package. That is an increase of 29, 5% compared to last year”reports journalist David Boéri, present on the set of 19/20, Friday July 7. “This is the strongest increase over one year, among the 25 products of the summer”says the journalist.

“Cumulative increases”

Other products such as crisps or rosé wine also experienced strong increases. How can such price increases be justified? “These increases are cumulative. A product like mozzarella is both the increase in the price of milk, to which is added that of the price of energy, for manufacturing and for transport”, explains David Boéri. Another item of expenditure that has risen sharply is that of transport. “It is above all the price of plane tickets which, literally, takes off. +21%, partly because fuel is more expensive, but above all because airlines are struggling to meet demand”says the journalist.
