Rising Health Problems in HR: Strategies for Prevention and Support

2023-10-17 11:27:17

1. HR decision-makers note a sharp increase in health problems between the second half of 2022 and the first half of 2023

For each health disorder, the proportion of decision-makers believing that they constitute an important reason for sick leave is increasing: fatigue, demotivation, RPS, MSD, seasonal illnesses, serious illnesses, etc.

Beyond sick leave, the interviewees also noted an increase over one year in different types of health problems.

2. But at the same time they deplore a slowdown in their company’s commitment to health

The lack of financial resources constitutes the obstacle which increases the most when HR decision-makers seek to communicate on health issues at work (31%, +3 pts).

Although still recognized by a majority of interviewees, the impact of health prevention actions on employee engagement and well-being is less emphasized (69% compared to 76% in 2022).

A majority of HR decision-makers (51%) believe that their company acts reactively rather than preventively when it comes to health, a proportion which has reversed over 1 year.

3. There is consensus on the need to act quickly

For a clear majority of decision-makers, their company is legitimate in offering employees various health support including: support for women during their pregnancy (72%, +4 pts), a vaccination service (70%, +4 pts) , cancer screening (67%, +3 pts) or even prevention services for their children (60%, +8 pts).

A higher proportion of respondents (83%, +7 pts) believe that more prevention actions would be implemented if their company had return on investment indicators.
