Rising Eurozone Inflation: Key Insights and Trends in June 2023

The euro zone’s annual inflation rate is expected to rise to 5.5% in June from 6.1% in May, according to a flash estimate released on Friday by Eurostat, the statistical institute of the European Union (EU ).

The main driver of inflation in the Eurozone remains the prices of food, alcohol and tobacco, which saw an inflation of 11.7% in June, year-on-year. However, this already represents a downward trend compared to inflation of 12.5% ​​in May.

Non-energy industrial goods are expected to experience annual inflation of 5.5% in June, compared to 5.8% in May.

The price of services should go from an annual inflation of 5% in May to 5.4% in June.

Energy prices continue to register negative growth, dropping from annual inflation of -1.8% in May to -5.6% in June.

In terms of individual countries, Slovakia leads with an annual inflation rate of 11.3% in June, followed by Estonia with 9% and Croatia with 8.3%. Conversely, Luxembourg recorded the lowest annual inflation rate in June (1%), followed by Spain and Belgium (1.6% each).
