Riyadh: Reportedly, the number of women getting divorced in Saudi Arabia has increased. This information is contained in the recently released Saudi Women’s Report 2022 by the General Authority of Statistics. According to the report, 350,000 women will be divorced in Saudi Arabia in 2022, Gulf News reported.

Most of the divorced women are in the age group of 30-34 years. 54,000 people in this age group are divorced. More than 53,000 people between the ages of 35-39 were divorced. The report also said that in 2022, 203,469 women became widows. The statistics were released following examining several factors including several surveys, registry data, 2022 census results, women’s participation in education, health, sports and technology. The age group 15-19 and 20-24 make up the majority of the female population. The population of these age groups is 916,439 and 850,780 respectively.

At the same time, the figures show that Saudi women are growing in the labor sector. The unemployment rate has dropped significantly. It increased from 27.6 percent at the end of 2021 to 30.4 percent by the end of 2022. Total female participation in the labor market is 36 percent. Women are also advancing in entrepreneurship. The report also shows that Saudi women are paying more attention to health.
