The Health Bureau issued a press release stating that the local case was a 30-year-old male in Bali District. After the epidemic investigation, the case was an employee of the cleaning team of the Environmental Protection Bureau. He went to Gukeng Township, Yunlin County to support the spraying work from August 7th to 9th. After returning to the north, he developed fever, headache, and pain in the posterior eye socket on August 14th. , joint pain and other symptoms.

The Health Bureau stated that the case was notified by the medical institution, and the diagnosis was confirmed on August 20. The source of infection was determined to be Yunlin County. A total of 22 contacts have been identified, and none of them have relevant symptoms so far. 2 of them are family members who live with them and the rapid screening test is negative. .

The Health Bureau stated that in addition to the epidemic investigation, the Bali District Office was immediately mobilized to strengthen the environmental cleaning of the whole district, and carried out chemical prevention and control spraying and cleaning operations for a radius of 200 meters outside the main activities of the case, and for a radius of 50 meters around the case’s home. , carried out door-to-door spraying and cleaning and expanded epidemic investigation, and simultaneously monitored the health of 379 people to closely monitor the development of the epidemic.

According to the CDC press release, the local epidemic situation continues to heat up. The first local cases of dengue fever occurred in New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Hsinchu County last week. As of August 21 this year, a total of 2,135 local cases have been reported, covering 14 counties and cities. The number of cases is the second highest in the same period in the past 10 years; and there are clusters of epidemics under surveillance in Tainan City, Yunlin County, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County.

According to the CDC, there have been a total of 10 severe cases this year, aged between 60s and 80s, including 8 cases in Yunlin County and 2 cases in Tainan City. Returned home; another unreported fatal case of severe illness.
