Covid is back. Although the situation is far from worrying, the number of cases is nevertheless increasing continuously. According to Public Health France, 4,390 cases were confirmed in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region between September 11 and 17, an increase of 8% compared to the previous week.
The rate of people testing positive is higher in Rhône (70/100,000 inhabitants), Isère (61/100,000 inhabitants) and Loire (59/100,000 inhabitants), the rates in the other departments being between 39 in Savoie and 47/100,000 inhabitants in Haute-Savoie. According to the regional health agency (ARS), “these rates must be interpreted with caution since they only take into account laboratory-confirmed cases and the use of tests varies over time and space”.
During this same period, 449 visits to the emergency room for suspected Covid-19 were reported in the region. Here too, an increase is noted, compared to previous weeks. All age groups are affected, but the highest detection rates still concern those over 75. Logical, since this is the population most likely to develop serious forms of the disease and therefore, who consults the most.
Note, on the other hand, that the number of people hospitalized, following a visit to the emergency room for Covid, is down, compared to the previous week. In the region, 135 patients were hospitalized between September 11 and 17.
The ARS recalls that the vaccination campaign has been brought forward to October 2. “Thus, people aged over 65 or presenting risk factors, their entourage and professionals in the health and medico-social sectors will be able to receive a dose of vaccine once morest Covid-19 with vaccines adapted to the majority circulating variant ( Omicron XBB)”.
