The prices of complementary health insurance have soared in 2023. A category of the population is notably impacted by these increases, according to a study.
Towards other increases? The prices of complementary health insurance have soared in 2023 according to a study carried out by Meilleurtaux assurance and relayed by The Parisian recently. Nationally, the increase is around 5% compared to last year.
Seniors, who generally have reinforced guarantees, are particularly affected by this increase. The older the insured is, the more he or she will have to put their hand in their pocket. For a couple in their sixties, it takes around 250 euros per month. The price increases to 300 euros for people in their seventies.
Costs that exceed 3,000 euros per year
Paris, Hauts-de-Seine and Alpes-Maritimes are poor performers with an increase of more than 8% for the last department mentioned. For a couple in their seventies, the prices displayed easily exceed 4,000 euros per year while a family with two children will pay 1,344 euros at most.
Moselle, Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin have the best annual costs, both for families and seniors. These prices do not represent good news since they are often explained by increasingly rare visits to specialized health professionals.
On average, a family allocates 1,202 euros to their complementary health insurance per year, compared to 3,032 euros for a 60-year-old couple and 3,667 euros for a household of septuagenarians.
Supplementary health insurance companies justify these increases by the aging of the population and the consequences of “100% health”, which seems to end up being paid for by the insured.
Faced with these prices, and the next expected increases, a fear is growing: that certain policyholders, particularly seniors, will revise their guarantees downwards.
