According to Le Figaro which cites several executive sources, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne plans to organize a press conference this Wednesday, September 14, to announce the new contours of the tariff shield and the price increases of gas and electricity that the French will have to endure this winter.
In addition to the new executive arbitrations that will be revealed there, the question of the “sobriety plan” and new gas and electricity supplies will be on the agenda. The Prime Minister should be surrounded by the various ministers concerned by the energy crisis.
With the approach of winter, the price of energy is at the center of concerns. In France, the price of electricity is currently subject to a tariff shield. Provided for in the 2022 finance law, this shield is extended until the end of 2022 by the amending finance law. It limits the increase in the regulated electricity price to 4% and the regulated gas tariff, which must not exceed the October 2021 tariff.
