The Chicago punk-rock band last visited Budapest two years ago, and now it’s time to return with a hit concert and the songs of the single released as a follow-up to their latest album, Nowhere Generation, as well as their biggest hits on August 13 in Budapest Park.
Rise Against was formed in Chicago in 1999 and currently consists of Tim McIlrath (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joe Principe (bass guitar, backing vocals), Zach Blair (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Brandon Barnes (drums, percussion). The quartet’s first two records were released on a small independent label, bringing them their first success in underground circles, and then the big breakthrough was released on a major label Siren Song of the Counter Culturearrived with Their next album, a The Sufferer & The Witness it already opened at number 10 on the Billboard 200, paving the way for success for the discs that followed. Rise Against often talks about the world’s injustices with their songs, and the guys are happy to support good causes and organizations, such as Amnesty International or PETA.
As they do this Nowhere Generation also on their chart-topping and critically acclaimed ninth album. As a follow-up to Nowhere Generation, in 2022 the band released the Nowhere Generation IIan energetic five-song single that continues the critical dialogue between themselves, their fans, and the world that the LP began. The five-song collection—written and recorded alongside Nowhere Generation and co-produced by Bill Stevenson (The Descendents, Black Flag)—goes beyond its predecessor: the chronic social, economic, and political instability and inequality that pervades the world. Nowhere Generation II is as biting as it is hopeful and further proof that the band remains a defining element of modern rock.
