The Cultural Center “Michanourgeio” has the pleasure of hosting two unique performances in Patras, “Ririka’s Birthday”, the children’s musical theater show that was loved by young and old and was a huge success last year, in Athens and other Greek cities.
The show is based on the children’s book of the same name by Maria Kilaidoni published by Pataki Publications illustrated by Fotini Tikkou and, apart from the wonderful fairy tale,includes songs with lyrics and music by herself, released by MinosEMI and thousands of listeners have already loved them!
On stage, Maria Kilaidoni, Alexis Stenakis and Apostolos Tzikas interpret the roles of the fairy tale and play live music (guitar, piano and clarinet) “introducing” us Ririka and her friends through a musical theater journey full of imagination and a lot of humor !
A few words about history
Today is the birthday of Ririka, the little bear! But this year is the first year she will celebrate alone after recently moving to another mountain, away from her family to live alone. To cheer her up, she thought of going down to the city to eat her favorite pistachio ice cream from the best ice cream parlor in the world! On the way Ririka meets her best friends one by one: Pi and Ro, the two hedgehog twins who make wonderful sparklers, Dionysus the crocodile, the excellent confectioner, Tito and Lia, the two lions, the awesome musicians and Charlie, the kangaroo, the amazing dancer. When the friends arrive at the ice cream shop and find it closed, they are called to save the day!
A story that speaks in a simple way to children about the enormous value of friendship and teaches us that for all problems there is a solution!
Maria’s note about the show
At the end of 2018 I became a mother for the first time, to my first son, Luciano. Less than two years later, my second son, Panagiotis, “came”. Motherhood was something that really fascinated me. When it was time to go back to work and write music again, the songs that came out effortlessly were childish!
But I wanted these little songs not to be “orphans” and so I clothed them with a story and this story found its way and finally became a book! Then this book became a theatrical performance and this year we have the pleasure of presenting it for the second year , after last year’s great success! The central theme of friendship “sprung up” by itself since in my life I have been very lucky and I have always had good friends on whom I could rely in difficult times but also with whom we have shared many moments of happiness.
So a hymn to kisses and to our friends, without whom our life would be much more difficult!
