The work on the east ring of Brussels (R0) between Braine-l’Alleud and Waterloo will be completed on Saturday followingnoon.

The construction site to replace the surfacing of around 7 km of the East Ring of Brussels (R0) between Braine-l’Alleud and Waterloo, in the direction of the capital, is coming to an end. Sofico confirms that all the lanes and accesses will be reopened to traffic from 4:00 p.m. this Saturday.

The objective set, which was to complete this major project before the start of the school year, will therefore be achieved, despite several schedule changes due to the capricious weather of August.

Sofico and SPW Mobility and Infrastructures had initially planned two weekends of complete traffic closure in August to carry out this project. But the extremely rainy first weekend forced officials to revise their plans and spread the work over the next three weekends. Then, given the uncertain weather announced for this last weekend of the month, the last phase of the construction site had been brought forward to Tuesday, hoping to complete everything by Friday, but heavy rains which fell on Thursday had interrupted the marking operations.

Works at 3 million euros

The construction site will therefore be completely finished this Saturday followingnoon and traffic will be completely freed up in the direction of Brussels on the section concerned. This work, awarded for 3 million euros, aimed to replace the coating of the R0 between Braine-l’Alleud and the regional border, but also to rectify the curvature of the “Butte du Lion” ramp, as well as to add an acceleration and deceleration strip over two kilometers between access 26 bis “Mont -Saint-Jean” and access 27 “Waterloo”.
