The construction site to replace the surfacing of around 7 km of the East Ring of Brussels (R0) between Braine-l’Alleud and the border of the Flemish region, in the direction of the capital, is coming to an end. The Sofico confirms that all lanes and accesses will be reopened to traffic from 4:00 p.m. this Saturday. The objective set, which was to complete this major project before the start of the school year, will therefore be achieved despite several changes to the schedule due to the capricious weather in August.

Sofico and SPW Mobility and Infrastructures had initially planned two weekends of complete traffic closure in August to carry out this project. But the first extremely rainy weekend forced officials to review their plans and spread the work over the following three weekends. Then given the uncertain weather announced for this last weekend of the month, the last phase of the construction site had been brought forward to Tuesday, hoping to wrap everything up by Friday. Except that heavy rains that fell on Thursday had interrupted the marking operations. On Friday, only one strip might be reopened in the direction of Brussels, and three ramps remained closed.

The construction site will therefore be completely finished this Saturday followingnoon and traffic will be completely freed up in the direction of Brussels on the section concerned. This work, awarded for 3 million euros, aimed to replace the coating of the R0 between Braine-l’Alleud and the regional border but also to rectify the curvature of the “Butte du Lion” ramp, as well as to add a band acceleration and deceleration over 2 kilometers between access 26 bis “Mont-Saint-Jean” and access 27 “Waterloo”.
