The mayor of Rímac, Néstor de la Rosa, stated that three spaces with potential for investment have been identified, either in shopping center or strip center formats; In addition, the disbursement that Besco Inmobiliaria will make of S/ 80 million for a 5,000 square meter (m2) strip mall next to its 6,000-home project called Lomas del Rímac.
“It is a project that is already being developed by the real estate company; It is estimated that the work will begin this year,” he said.
Thus, of these three spaces with potential, De la Rosa pointed out that there are 12,000 m2 in the Tacna extension, with availability for investment in a shopping center. According to the authority, this space, which is privately owned in the area, has an average sales price of US$ 2,000 per m2. “To date, there have been conversations with Wong, Cencosud, among others. The investor is being sought,” he said.

To this, he added, the 25,000 m2 area near Alcázar Avenue, initially owned by Backus, which has been sold to some investors from Puno; for commercial purposes. “It is a transaction that was closed last year,” he said.
The third point mentioned is an area of 6,000 m2 of the Federation of Employees of Banco de la Nación, also available for commercial investment.
“There are regarding 50,000 m2 available for shopping center or strip center initiatives, owned by private parties, which following negotiation would transfer these spaces for higher level investments,” said the mayor.

This is how De la Rosa projected that there would be more than S/ 100 million of investment by private parties (including the investment of S/ 80 million by Besco) that will take place this year in the Rimense district. “It is very likely that the initiative can be consolidated in the Tacna extension, given that it is a project that has been promoted for a long time,” he added.

San Cristobal Cable Car
Regarding the progress of the cable car project, the mayor indicated that an international call would be launched by mid-year to develop this initiative. At the moment, the call is being coordinated with Proinversión and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
“An international company is expected to develop (the project). An international call will be launched for the cable car as well as for the restoration of the historic Fifth Dam building,” he added.
Gastronomic initiative
Another relevant aspect for the district, the mayor highlighted, is the gastronomy sector. De la Rosa maintained that the initiative is maintained to promote businesses of this sector in the Trujillo neighborhood, along four blocks.
“This area is part of the Rímac tourist circuit, a pleasant place not only for local tourists, but also international tourists, taking advantage of its proximity to the Center of Lima,” he stated.
Thus, De la Rosa stated that this year actions will be resumed to promote these spaces, which includes works to beautify streets and avenues.
