RIL and BP Start Deep-Sea Energy Production: Game-Changing Milestone for India’s Gas Industry

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and BP Plc to start deep-sea energy production It is the last of three major new deepwater projects completed by the RIL-BP joint team off India’s east coast. Currently, pre-tests for oil and gas production from the MJ field have been completed. This is followed by a new announcement.

Gas and condensate will initially be produced from the MG field, following the start-up of R-cluster production in December 2020 and the satellite cluster in April 2021. All these three fields use the same infrastructure. The 3 fields combined are said to produce regarding 30 million cubic meters of gas per day at peak times. This would be regarding one-third of India’s total gas production. With this, it is estimated that the gas requirement of the country can be met by 15 percent.
