Riedau’s goalkeeper Briglauer saved four penalties

The first round of this year’s Innviertler Cup took place last weekend. The match between SV Taufkirchen/Pram and SV Riedau was hard to beat in terms of excitement. After 90 minutes of play, the duel between the district league teams was 1:1. In the penalty shootout, Riedau had the upper hand and won 3:0. Riedau’s goalkeeper Peter Briglauer was the man of the day. He saved a total of four penalties: one during regular time and three in the penalty shootout. “Peter Brieglauer was outstanding today. He won’t forget this game any time soon,” said Riedau’s sporting director Udo Niemetz. In the second round, Riedau will face FC Pischelsdorf. Niemetz sees his team as the favorites. “We definitely want to move into the next round. If we put in a performance like we did once morest Taufkirchen, I’m sure we’ll leave the field as winners,” said Niemetz.

SV Lambrechten is also the favorite to advance, and will face ATSV Laab in the second round. The district league team won 3-0 once morest the regional league team SK Schärding in the cup opener. At first glance, this was a surprise, but not for Lambrechten’s sports director Michael Berrer. While his team played with a well-rehearsed eleven, the opposition had many new faces in the starting lineup.

“Of course it played into our hands that SK Schärding played with an almost new team. The victory was also acceptable in terms of the margin. All-round praise to the whole team,” says Berrer. The next opponent, ATSV Laab, should not be a stumbling block on the way to the third round. “We accept the role of favorites. Anything other than a win would be a disappointment for me,” says Berrer. Also still in the competition is defending champion UFC Peterskirchen/Tumeltsham/Andrichsfurt, who won 5:3 away once morest Union Treubach/Roßbach in the first round. PTA returnee Adam Nagy got off to a dream start: the Hungarian was on the scoresheet following just 30 seconds. In the second round, the defending champion has to play away once morest Union Eggerding.

Erwin Bögl, Eggerdinger’s sporting director, expects a close match: “It will be a duel on equal terms. I don’t think PTA is as strong as in recent years and therefore believe my team will win.”

Union Schardenberg is a clear underdog in the duel once morest the regional league team Union Esternberg. Despite the difficult draw, section manager Stefan Moser is looking forward to the derby. “We haven’t had a competitive match once morest Esternberg for ages. The match will be an absolute highlight for our players. We will do everything we can to cause a surprise,” says Moser. Difficult, but doable, is the statement from Esternberg’s sports director Klaus Goldberger regarding the second round draw: “We are looking forward to the derby. Of course we are the favorites, but anything is possible in the cup. We will definitely not underestimate Schardenberg.”

Derby Diersbach once morest St. Roman

There will also be a derby on Saturday in the duel between Diersbach and St. Roman. Diersbach’s sporting director, Josef Steinmann, sees the game as good preparation for the regional cup. There, Diersbach will face regional league team Neuhofen next weekend. “We want to gain confidence for the game once morest Neuhofen with a win once morest St. Roman,” said Steinmann in an interview with OÖN.

Eggelsberg/Moosdorf travels to the match once morest Union Enzenkirchen with a lot of self-confidence following the 8:1 opening victory once morest St. Peter am Hart. The goal is to advance to the third round. “We want to take the momentum from the first game and reach the next round,” says Karl-Heinz Webersberger, sporting director.
