DEPUTY General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, confirmed that Atalia Praratya had not withdrawn from the nomination market as mayor of Bandung. Ridwan Kamil’s wife is considered to have high electability.
“Not yet (resigned),” said Doli at the State Secretariat Ministry Complex (Kemensetneg), Central Jakarta, Thursday (25/4).
Doli explained that Atalia’s electability was seen in the last legislative election (pileg). Atalia was able to get the highest number of votes reaching more than 200 thousand.
“This means that the aspirations expressed by the people of Bandung City are not wrong, that Mrs. Atalia is quite popular and her electability is quite good,” he explained.
However, Atalia is required to withdraw from the Bandung mayoral election market if she chooses to advance to Senayan. Atalia, said Doli, is currently considering it.
“People finish competing, get something, then have to compete once more and withdraw from yesterday, which they don’t necessarily want,” explained Doli.

Previously, Atalia admitted that she had received an assignment letter from the Golkar Party DPP to run as a candidate for mayor of Bandung. Atalia had doubts regarding the assignment following passing to Senayan.
“The Sprin (warrant) was received before I ran for office. Now I have been elected to the DPR RI. So it needs consideration,” said Atalia, Friday (29/3).
Atalia qualified for Senayan from the West Java I electoral district which includes Bandung City and Cimahi City. Atalia received 234,063 votes. (Medcom/Z-6)
