RIDO Team Accuses Jakarta KPU of Unprofessionalism
Jakarta – The RIDO team (Ridwan Kamil-Suswono) has accused the Jakarta KPU of lacking professionalism in carrying out its duties during the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. The RIDO camp filed a report against the promotion for the winning KPU before the DKPP on December 5.
The team cited issues surrounding the distribution of C6 forms, which serve as voting invitations to voters, as evidence of unprofessional conduct.
“The principle of professionalism in organizing elections is clearly violated. The distribution of C6 forms was done unprofessionally, "said Muslim Jaya Butar Butar, a member of the RIDO legal team.
Butar emphasized that the KPU, as the institution tasked with organizing elections, should prioritize impeccable service to all voters, which necessitates a smooth distribution process. They delivered the report to the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) on Thursday, focusing on the Jakarta KPU and East Jakarta KPU.
“The correlation with the number of C6 notifications not distributed well to the public is concerning,” Butar added.
Muslim also expressed concerns about the voter turnout. He suspected a connection between the low participation rate and the problematic distribution of C6 forms, citing a survey that revealed a 30% participation rate in various sub-districts.
“This means that by having 580 DPTs per TPS, it’s very likely that around 300-400 people didn’t fulfill their right to vote,” he stated.
Beyond the filing of the formal complaint to the DKPP, the RIDO campaign has also reached out to the Jakarta Bawaslu (Election Supervisory Agency). They are requesting an investigation into allegations of violations in the Jakarta gubernatorial clections.
Previously, Basri Baco, the secretary of the RIDO winning team, harshly criticized the Jakarta KPU for its lack of professionalism. The team pointed to the KPU’s handling of C6 form distribution as causing a decrease in voter turnout.
The law affirms that every registered voter should receive a C6. Baco is urging that the election process should be reviewed. The team requests a separate voting opportunity for areas where the distribution of invitations was unsuccessful.
As the vote recapitulation continues, RIDO trails their competitors, Pramono Anung –Reno Karno.
Pramono-Karno secured victories in five of the six regions: Thousand Islands, East Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, and West Jakarta.
What evidence does the RIDO team have to support their claims of unprofessionalism by the Jakarta KPU?
