“This is a dream. In 2014, as director of the Bío Bío Regional IND, I learned about this track, confirmed that it needed improvements and managed 250 million pesos in the Bío Bío Regional Government. Little by little we started walking along this path with a bike cross club that has a social fabric. On that path, the regional governor of Ñuble also listened to us to finance this project. Chillán has to be the cradle of cycling in Chile. “We have the best track in Chile and one of the most modern in South America and now we are applying to host the next Pan American or Latin American in 2025 and in December we will have the National,” commented Alfredo Mariño, president of the Chillán Bicicross Club.
“I am very excited to see this track, which is the best in Chile. I can confirm that we are nominating it to host the 2025 Pan American Games. Now let the children and families enjoy it,” explained Marco Borié, president of the National Cycling Federation of Chile.
The former three-time bike cross world champion, Angelines Nicoletta, confessed: “My heart is full, excited, because this was a dream. I thank all the authorities and the Chillán Bicicross club that went out of their way to make this possible, for seeing 400 children who this weekend will enjoy this track to have a healthy life, linked to sport.
