The shooting of the latest cinema and TV film by Tyrolean director Hermann Weiskopf was successfully completed. Also taking part is the talented Axamer young actress Marlene Markt, who shone at the folk theater in Telfs this summer!

With the Vespa in search of the meaning, the risks and the happiness of getting older. Hermann Weiskopf’s latest documentary “Ride back to Best Age” was filmed on Lake Garda, in the Alpachtal, in Innsbruck and this time also in Axams.

On the journey

Hermann Weiskopf has repeatedly caused a stir and high international awards with his films in recent years – including “Otto Neururer – Hopeful Darkness”. His latest film and road movie, “Ride back to Best Age,” takes viewers on a journey regarding advancing age.

Best age or old news?

As a newly minted 60-year-old, Weiskopf asks himself the question that concerns many people of a certain age: Am I already old news or am I even in my prime? “A look in the mirror clearly shows the signs of the times, but my inner child, who still feels thirty, smiles at me. Reason enough to take a closer look at it – also because the population in our country and in general is getting older in Europe.”

Vespa on Tour

With this profound question as his driving force, Weiskopf sets off on a journey with his Vespa and meets all sorts of people who share their views on topics such as work, love, faith, loneliness, pleasure and the end of life.

Young talent from Axams

The filmmaker is particularly pleased that he was able to win the young Axam actress Marlene Mark for two key scenes in his film. Because there shouldn’t just be “old people” in the film, says Weiskopf with a smile. “In addition, the young actress’s scenic presence was simply extraordinary, as the film team unanimously stated,” continued Weiskopf.

Director and actor

In the 90-minute film and TV documentary, Weiskopf is not only active as a director behind the camera, but also as an actor in front of the camera. Other members of the film team include Elly Senger-Weiss (production management), Bernhard Freinademetz and Chris Meischl (picture direction, camera and sound), Gwen McGuirk (costumes): Bernhard Falkner (music composition) and Dr. Peter Mair and Kirsten Ossoinig (screenplay).

“Ride back to Best Age”

… should not only delight the Austrian audience, says Hermann Weiskopf: “After its release in May 2024 in domestic cinemas, the film will be presented at various international film festivals. From around autumn 2024, the documentary will then be available to a wider audience on ServusTV Austria, Germany and Eastern Switzerland made accessible.”
