Ahead of his first appearance in Indonesia, alternative pop musician Ricky Montgomery released a cover of a classic song by The Strokes. Reptilia, via Warner Records ahead of the release of the album Rick(y), which is the deluxe version of Rick’s first album. Rick(y)’s album will be released on May 10, 2024.
The start of this year was an important moment in Montgomery’s career. Because he successfully completed his biggest North American tour entitled The Rick Tour: Another Rick in the Wall.
The tour also visited the UK and Europe where all tickets were sold out. Montgomery will then leave for Asia, including Indonesia, Singapore and Australia.
“I am very happy to be performing at the Java Jazz Festival!” said Montgomery at X, last March, when he was announced as one of the international musicians who would perform at the 19th edition of the country’s legendary music festival.

With 2 billion streams globally and 8 billion views on TikTok, Montgomery’s music makes listeners feel connected. Because he discusses topics about our daily lives which are sometimes messy and boring.
Rick’s album, which he released in September last year, received a warm welcome from music listeners and music critics. Woncerland praised the album and said, “This album is an important chapter in Montgomery’s career. He has become a figure who is slowly establishing his own identity as a musician with substance, character and presence.”
Meanwhile Billboard said, “Those who listen to this album will definitely pay attention to Montgomery”.
Indonesia, currently, is in position #3 on the list of countries in the world where music is played the most. Meanwhile, Jakarta sits in position #1 on Ricky’s Top Streaming Cities globally, and Bandung sits in position #4. (RO/Z-1)
