Ricky Martin: his divorce had been decided “before the pandemic”
The singer announced his separation from Jwan Yosef last July. He speaks for the first time on this subject.

Ricky Martin has revealed that he and his ex-husband, Jwan Yosef, have been planning their separation for years. The ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ singer announced in early July thathe was ending his marriage of six years. In a recent interview for Telemundo, the 51-year-old revealed the decision was made years ago.
“When the public found out, we had already gone through a grieving process. Jwan and I will always be a family. We have two children that we are going to raise together, and it is not a recent decision. We have been planning for this situation for a long time. Before the pandemic,” he said.
Write a book on divorce?
The singer assured that his divorce went smoothly and that he remains on good terms with his ex. “I even told Jwan that we should write a book on how to divorce properly. In fact, if someone divorces, come and talk to us, because we have already found out how to do it, he launched with humor. It was a lot easier than we thought, but we did it with time and calm.”
The former couple have two children, daughter Lucia, born in 2018, and son Renn, born in 2019, while the Puerto Rican singer is also the father of twins, Matteo and Valentino, born in 2008.
