Puerto Rican lawyer Michael Corona, representative of Ricky Martin’s nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez, reported at an initial hearing of the judicial process that he will request access to documents on the singer’s mental health.

This was indicated during the visit, held virtually before Judge Arnaldo Castro, of the Court of First Instance of San Juan, in the case of the million-dollar lawsuit filed by the artist once morest his nephew for extortion, malicious persecution, damages.

The petition to reveal the state of the artist’s mental health is a response to the motion filed by Martin’s lawyers -Joaquín Monserrate, Dora L. Monserrate and José A. Andreu-, requesting Sánchez’s files at the Capestrano Hospital and other entities.

“If this is a matter of going into mental health issues on both sides, we certainly will make our request in view of what we are alleging in the counterclaim, which is a matter of sexual abuse of a minor,” Corona said.

The motion of the singer’s lawyers raised the objection of Corona, who alluded to the privacy of his client, giving the judge 10 days to present his position on the matter.

However, Judge Castro announced that in civil cases in which aspects related to physical and emotional damage are exposed, the right to privacy is waived.

At the hearing, it was agreed that Ricky Martin will make his deposition in person on October 26 and 27, while his nephew will do the same on November 14 and 15.

The lawyers for both parties will meet on August 22 and the judge granted the parties 30 days to present the experts they will use in the process.

The hearing of the status of the proceedings, which will allow establishing a date for the start of the trial, was scheduled for December 18.
