Rickerl: A Melancholic-Comic Father-Son Story by Adrian Goiginger and Voodoo Jürgens

2024-01-17 16:45:27

Rickerl is a disheveled musician in his mid-30s and a gifted songwriter. But most of all he gets in his own way. Where others have a career, he prefers to sit in the pub, write his song lyrics on scrap paper and keep them in his guitar case. He only plays concerts for his closest friends, for money at private weddings or for his little son Ben.

Adrian Goiginger, one of the most successful domestic directors with films like “The Fox,” has shot “Rickerl,” a tender father-son story and a melancholic-comic portrait of a Viennese underdog. Voodoo Jürgens, a master of the Viennese song, impresses with his restrained charm and strong performances as a singer (the KURIER reported).
